Break out the bubbly, it’s my one year blogiversary and my 100th post. And yes, this rudimentary graphic is the best I could do to commemorate it. I actually worked kind of hard on it.
Thanks to all of you for sticking around this confusingly-named blog of mine: it’s not ethnic, and I’m not a grandma (though thanks to my adorable mother-in-law’s enthusiastic evangelism, I have many grandma readers and they rock!).
You guys get that chinese grandma is a philosophy: it’s an honest look at the journey of life, sharing the lessons we learn and enjoying good food along the way. It’s about nourishing our hearts, souls, minds and bodies in my kitchen that never closes.

Before I announce the winner of my countdown contest, a quick word on my methodology just to assure you that I took pains to be completely fair and impartial. The names-in-hat approach seemed awfully low tech in today’s world, so math nerd that I am, I took the number of commenters/entrants – 19 – and used this nifty random number generator to select a number between 1 and 19.
The winning ticket? 2!
And the #2 commenter was…
Connie Patterson from the beautiful Pacific northwest! One of my very wise, real-grandma readers brought here by my lovely mother-in-law.
Congratulations, Connie! Connie already has a butter bell and a cast iron skillet, so she selected the $20 Amazon gift certificate as her prize. Except I decided I should make it $25, because that’s when you get free shipping (we’re all about pragmatism here at chinese grandma). Happy shopping, Connie!
Thanks for participating, everyone! I loved hearing from every one of you.
[Note to CC – your comment came in after the drawing, but I incorporated your favorites in this post. Thanks! -cg]
