Not my usual post – just had to give a quick heads up on two great gift deals in effect today. For anyone with a Wii system or buying one this holiday season, Just Dance 2 is Amazon’s Gold Box Deal of the Day, for $26 vs $40 normally. Electronics aren’t my thing, but I have to say this game is a must-have for any family with a Wii – fun that kids can have together or with parents, and a great workout for all. Also, if you don’t have one of those brilliant collapsible play tents (great for indoor and outdoor play; fold up into nothing for storage), Costco.com has a tent/tunnel combo for $30 (vs $55-60 on Amazon.com), shipping included – deal ends tomorrow, December 2.
Just Dance 2 for Wii – Incredible fun for the whole family. Holding the Wii remote (wiimote for you gamers), you try to imitate the dance moves of the figure onscreen. This game and its predecessor are responsible for some late night family parties here, with round after round of kids vs kids, kids vs parents, and parents vs parents. I don’t know when I’ve laughed that hard – or, frankly, worked out that much. A brilliant way for kids to get energy out and for parents to work off extra holiday pounds during the cold winter. It’s Amazon.com’s deal of the day today (December 1), $26 vs $40 normally: Just Dance 2 at Amazon.com.
We just purchased Just Dance 2 for my son’s birthday and played it with family until midnight over the weekend. Some of the kids say that it’s harder than Just Dance, which came out last fall, but it also may be the fact that it’s new to them right now. Main difference (aside from new song selections) is a duet mode, where two people dance coordinated but different moves, and a medley option for a series of short dances to different songs (instead of just one longer song/dance). For anyone interested in Just Dance, it’s currently selling for $30 at Amazon.com (retail price $40; may normally sell for a discount since it’s the older version): Just Dance at Amazon.com.
Pacific Play Tents tent/tunnel combo – Young kids, toddler through school age, love these collapsible tents. They are great indoors or outdoors for all kinds of pretend play (we’ve even had two kids sleepover in a tent). They fold down flat for storage and pop right back up when you need them. Costco.com is selling this combo for $30 (normally $40), shipping included, through tomorrow, December 2. Amazon.com sells the tent alone for $29, and the combo for $55-60). If you don’t have a Costco membership, find a friend or relative who does – they can order it online and have it shipped to you. Play tent/tunnel combo at Costco.com.
I’m working on my gift ideas for preschoolers, school-aged kids and teens – hope to have those posts out in short order. I’m sure you are all as anxious as I am to get holiday shopping out of the way (so we can get back to food!).

Well considering that I was able to experience the joy factor of Just Dance when I visited Ohio, I can second the recommendation for sure! Talk about a gift that keeps on giving…all the kids and adults had a BLAST.

Lilian, I am loving your deal alerts and gift suggestions. As a senior, I am learning about the best way to shop the Internet from you. Keep it up!
Thanks for saving me from running around to shop.

hooray for the internet. i actually went to stores yesterday looking for a couple of items i could no longer find online. too overwhelming, and such a logistical hassle. i like getting everything done from my little kitchen stool (in my pjs).
